Fixer Upper

So we have finally <almost> made it to the close of our latest project adventure, flipping a house! (**I use the term our loosely here**)

So here we are, in the final stretch, awaiting closing day and all of the final paper work. I cannot express how proud I am of my husband for the work and energy he poured into this little home. This was truly his baby - he and a good friend did the majority of the work on this house, and boy-oh-boy, did they do a great job!

They took a decrepit and tragic house from the early1900s and gave it quite a face lift. Once a 3-bedroom, 2-bath two-story house, this gem hit the market in less than 10 months as a 3-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home shiny and new for the next owner.

They took this house down to the studs...

...and then took out half the studs!

Lathe and plaster, blown-in insulation, knob and tube wiring, all kinds of rot and filth... everything had to go. So new and additional framing, all new duct work, new electrical and lighting, carpet, ceramic tile, cabinets, paint and drywall, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, siding roof and new kitchen appliances.

Who wouldn't want to live here?

One of the ways we shine in life is by using our strengths and finding ways to take what we love and turn it into something fantastic.

This project has flipped a house from a tragic eyesore to a warm and welcoming home. It has taught us a lot about financial management and budgeting, it has sparked some new creative curiosities and it has helped us grow our friendship with some very important people.

I am so excited to have reached completion on this job - for more than one reason! We have so much to take away from this cute home, and I can't wait to see where it takes us!

** I helped in small ways with the work on this house - cleaning, painting, deliveries and supply runs - but this is truly the product of lots of sweat and elbow grease over lots of late nights and long weekends for my husband and his partner in crime. **
