Host a Favorite Things Party

Have you heard of a favorite things party? I'd seen a couple of different ideas pop up while I was searching for inspiration for a bachelorette party, and I was intrigued.

So - I had one of my own!

I went pretty simple on the decorations - mostly just lots of brown paper (tied up with string...)

So, here's how it works: you have some friends over...you all bring some of your favorite things, and you trade! You get to eat, drink and chatter the night away. Then everyone gets to go home with some new goodies.

Invite a small group of friends and have each of them bring a few of their favorite things. We left ours open ended, so we ended up with a variety of "things" to take home with us. You could also narrow it down by saying bring your favorite ... hair product, beauty product, bottle of wine, kitchen gadget, etc.

We only had five people, so everyone just brought four items - one for each of the other guests. If you have more guests but don't want people to spend a ton of money, have your guests draw numbers when they get to the party. Then they just pick three or four items from the table. Do what works for you!

Don't forget to have some snack foods too. I just had some of my favorite foods for everyone to grab - popcorn, turkey wraps, chips and salsa, cheese and crackers - yum!

And my favorite little details - brown paper wrapped napkins and fresh grapes in brown paper bags.

Maybe I went a little "brown paper packages" crazy, but it was simple. Plus, you really can't go wrong when The Sound of Music is involved.

What would you take to a party like this?
