Black and Gold Bachelorette

We hosted a bachelorette party for my sister with the theme "Jane's Favorite Things."

The party was black and gold themed, with as much bling as we could muster.

A friend cut out the corsets using her Silhouette machine. We also cut out a bra and panty size and glued them to the corsets - I thought I'd leave those details out :)

The glitter paper is gorgeous, but man, does it make a mess!

Rather than wearing inappropriate name tags or drinking out of dirty straws, we decided to celebrate with some of the bride's favorite things: animal print scarves and shiny nail polish.

I also made these scratch-off cards using a tutorial I found over on Bridal Musings.

The cards have all sorts of "dares" on them for the guests to play along all night. Tasks like taking pics with a bartender, buying the bride shots, posing for selfies and requesting certain songs on the dance floor.

These kept the night entertaining and fun until wee hours in the morning. We also got lots of fun photos because of them.

When the guest arrived, they were asked to think of a song that made them think of the bride. Then, as she opened their gift, they shred their songs and the stories that went with them. We created a CD with all the songs and played it as we got ready on her wedding day!

We started the party in a hotel room, and had some light snacks and drinks, before heading out on the town. We tried to keep it simple, but make it special at the same time. The sign in the top photo reads "Friends, sweet wine and her engagement ring, these are a few of Jane's favorite things."

Bachelorette parties don't have to be extravagant or uncomfortably inappropriate. They're supposed to be about celebrating the special lady and the ones who love her most. Small, classy touches go a long way for a memorable night.
